Joshua King Heads to Ligue 1 After Watford Exit

Former Premier League Forward Signs for Montpellier

King Departs Vicarage Road After Three Seasons

Former Watford striker Joshua King has completed a move to Ligue 1 side Montpellier, the French club announced on Tuesday. The Norwegian international departs Vicarage Road after three seasons, having scored 17 goals in 67 appearances for the Hornets.

King, 30, joined Watford from Bournemouth in 2021 and played a key role in the club's promotion to the Premier League in his first season. He scored 12 goals in 35 league appearances during the 2021/22 campaign, helping Watford secure an immediate return to the top flight.

However, King found game time hard to come by in the Premier League this season, making just nine appearances without scoring. Watford's relegation back to the Championship at the end of the season has now prompted King to seek a new challenge in France.

Montpellier finished in eighth place in Ligue 1 last season and will be hoping that King can add some goals to their attack. The Norwegian has a proven track record in both the Premier League and the Championship, and he will be looking to make an immediate impact in France.

King's move to Montpellier is a sign of the growing popularity of Ligue 1. In recent years, the French league has attracted a number of high-profile players, including Lionel Messi, Sergio Ramos, and Gianluigi Donnarumma. King's arrival is another indication that Ligue 1 is becoming a major force in European football.
