Rookie third baseman will sit against left-hander Martin Perez

Tigers rookie third baseman Jace Jung is not in the lineup against left-hander Martin Perez and the Texas Rangers on Monday afternoon at Comerica Park.

Jung is 2-for-12 with five strikeouts against left-handed pitchers this season.

He is hitting .301/.378/.530 overall with seven home runs and 27 RBIs.

With Jung out of the lineup, Willi Castro is starting at third base and batting seventh.

Spencer Torkelson is moving up to the cleanup spot and Miguel Cabrera is batting fifth.

The Tigers will face another left-hander, Dallas Keuchel, on Tuesday night.

A decision on whether Jung will play in that game has not been made.
