Early Life and Career

Miles Teller was born on February 20, 1987, in Downingtown, Pennsylvania, and began acting in school productions. After graduating from high school, he attended New York University's Tisch School of the Arts, where he studied drama.

Teller's earliest film roles were minor, including a small part in the 2010 comedy "Rabbit Hole." He gained recognition for his supporting role in the 2013 film "The Spectacular Now," for which he received an Independent Spirit Award nomination.

Breakthrough Roles

Teller's breakthrough role came in 2014 with the critically acclaimed independent drama "Whiplash," in which he played a young jazz drummer tormented by an abusive instructor.

Following "Whiplash," Teller went on to star in several high-profile films, including the "Divergent" series, the war film "Thank You for Your Service," and the biopic "Bleed for This." He received another Independent Spirit Award nomination for his performance in the latter film.
